چکیده
Abstract. The El Niño–Southern Oscillation (ENSO) modulates the lightning flash density (LFD) variability over India during premonsoon, monsoon and postmonsoon seasons. This study intends to shed light on impact of ENSO phases LFD Indian subcontinent using data obtained from Optical Transient Detector (OTD) Lightning Imaging Sensors (LIS) onboard Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission (TRMM) satellite. Results suggest northeast (NEI) southern peninsular (SPI) strengthened (weakened) warm (cold) phase in premonsoon season. During season, NNWI (north northwest India) shows above (below) normal cold (warm) phase. It is striking note that there are three hot spots land region which became more prominent seasons last decade. A widespread increase observed all robust rise graupel/snow concentration found season SPI phase, with lowest fluctuations NEI regions. subtropical westerly jet stream shifted south association accompanied by an geopotential height (GPH) for same period. exciting remark may explain indirect influences ENSO's pushing mean position towards latitudes. متن کاملEl Nino Southern Oscillation (ENSO) impact on tuna fisheries in Indian Ocean
El Nino Southern Oscillation (ENSO) is an important driver of interannual variations in climate and ecosystem productivity in tropical regions. However, detailed information about this important phenomenon of the Indian Ocean is scarce. Consequently, the objective of this study is to improve understanding of the impact of warm event El Nino and cool event La Nina on annual tuna landings from th...

Abstract. Satellite (Lightning Imaging Sensor) based lightning flash grid (0.5 x 0.5) data over the land mass areas of the Indian region covering between 8-30N for a period of 4 years (1998-2001) have been analyzed to examine their geographical, annual, interannual and diurnal distribution. An attempt has been made to obtain IC:CG ratio. Result of this study demonstrates that there exists latit...
متن کاملEl Niño and Southern Oscillation (ENSO): A Review
The ENSO observing system in the tropical Pacific plays an important role in monitoring ENSO and helping improve the understanding and prediction of ENSO. Occurrence of ENSO has been explained as either a self-sustained and naturally oscillatory mode of the coupled ocean-atmosphere system or a stable mode triggered by stochastic forcing. In either case, ENSO involves the positive ocean-atmosphe...
متن کاملBayesian dynamic modeling for monthly Indian summer monsoon rainfall using El Niño–Southern Oscillation (ENSO) and Equatorial Indian Ocean Oscillation (EQUINOO)
[1] There is an established evidence of climatic teleconnection between El Niño– Southern Oscillation (ENSO) and Indian summer monsoon rainfall (ISMR) during June through September. Against the long-recognized negative correlation between ISMR and ENSO, unusual experiences of some recent years motivate the search for some other causal climatic variable, influencing the rainfall over the Indian ...
